I'm A Parki

You have Parkinson's.

You're officially a Parki! (It's a term of endearment). By now, I'm sure your doctor has told you about the importance of stretching and exercise...

You might be wondering...

Now what? How do I get started? Where do I go? What are my resources? Who can I talk to who's been through this already? Will exercise really help my symptoms?

That's where we come in.

Power Out Parkinson's™ is a not-for-profit program created to promote the benefits of exercise for treating Parkinson's Disease, and to improve the quality of life for both patients and their families.

Here's how it works.

Exercise can reverse your symptoms like a miracle drug, but your PD is probably going to zap your motivation. So, you're going to need Parkies and Parki-lovers in your corner to give you support and to hold you accountable for staying active!

Start by joining the Facebook Group. Not only will you find great resources like online videos and a calendar of local events, but you'll find a PD-friendly community full of impromptu meet-ups, people sharing their stories, and more.

Next, join the P.O.P. Cycling Club on Strava. Cycling is one of the best exercises for PD, and when you log your miles for P.O.P. on the Strava app, you raise $ for PD while naturally combatting your symptoms (it's science).

Third, register for the Power Out Parkinson's Charity Bike Ride. Nothing will motivate you to exercise like working toward a goal. You have until September 10, 2017 to train for stages of 10, 30, 50, 75 and 100 miles. Add your email address in our footer and we'll email you when registration opens.

Now it's your turn.

Check out these links (←) to learn about our story and the science of exercise for PD. If you're picking up what we're laying down, we'd love for you to check out our referral program to help us raise $ for PD.

You down with P.O.P.?

Before you do anything else, join the Power Out Parkinson's™ Group on Facebook. Remember - you're not alone, you just have to know where to look. Now, let's tap into those underlying super powers. #ParkiPower
